Oekolp-Creme (Estriol)

Oekolp-Creme contains estriol, an estrogen that acts on the skin’s estrogen‑dependent pathways. It is indicated for:

• Atrophic vaginitis: improves mucosal integrity and reduces dryness.
• Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM): alleviates irritation, burning and dyspareunia.
• Post‑menopausal vulvovaginal atrophy: restores tissue elasticity and hydration.
• Estrogen‑deficient dermatoses: supports skin barrier function and reduces erythema.

• Estriol binds selectively to estrogen receptors (ERb1 and ERb2) in skin and mucosal tissues, initiating transcription of genes that promote collagen synthesis, water retention, and epithelial cell proliferation. This receptor‑mediated activity restores tissue trophicity and improves barrier function in estrogen‑deficient areas.

Estriol cream is generally well tolerated, but adverse reactions can occur.

Common Side Effects

• Local itching or mild burning sensation.
• Redness or mild erythema at the application site.
• Slight swelling or edema of the skin.
• Dryness or flaking of the treated area.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) with swelling of the face or throat.
• Contact dermatitis with intense itching, blistering or rash.
• Unexplained vaginal bleeding.
• Hormone‑sensitive tumor progression.

When using Oekolp-Creme, consider the following precautions:
