Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic that modulates neurotransmitter activity in several psychiatric conditions.

• Olanzapine acts as an antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5‑HT2A receptors, with additional affinity for histamine H1, muscarinic, and adrenergic receptors. This broad receptor blockade modulates dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, contributing to antipsychotic and mood‑stabilising effects in the central nervous system.
