Indications & Clinical Uses

Olmedipin combines two antihypertensive agents to lower blood pressure through complementary mechanisms.

  • Hypertension: provides effective blood pressure reduction in patients with primary hypertension.
  • Hypertension with isolated systolic hypertension: improves systolic and diastolic control.
  • Hypertension in patients who require combination therapy: achieves target BP when monotherapy is insufficient.

How It Works

  • Olmedipin contains olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker that selectively inhibits AT1 receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, and amlodipine, a calcium‑channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscle by inhibiting L‑type calcium channels. The combined action produces additive vasodilation and reduction of peripheral resistance, resulting in lowered arterial pressure.

Olmedipin may cause a range of adverse reactions, most of which are mild and reversible.
