Indications & Clinical Uses

Olmesartan/Amlodipine Ab is indicated for hypertension management, targeting the renin‑angiotensin system and vascular smooth‑muscle tone.

  • Hypertension: lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure to reduce cardiovascular risk.
  • Hypertension with high peripheral resistance: improves arterial compliance and flow.
  • Hypertension in patients requiring combination therapy: provides additive blood‑pressure control when monotherapy is insufficient.

How It Works

  • Olmesartan medoxil selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium‑channel blocker, inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth‑muscle cells, causing dose‑dependent arterial dilation. Together they produce complementary reductions in systemic vascular resistance and blood pressure.
