Olmesartan Lek‑Am is an antihypertensive agent that works within the renin‑angiotensin‑aldosterone system to lower blood pressure.

  • Hypertension: helps achieve target blood pressure levels in adults.
  • Diabetic nephropathy (off‑label): may slow progression of kidney damage associated with diabetes.

How It Works

  • Olmesartan medoxomil is a pro‑drug that is rapidly converted to olmesartan, a selective antagonist of the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor. By blocking AT1‑mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, it reduces systemic vascular resistance and the stimulus for fluid retention.
