Olmesartan medoxomil combined with hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for management of hypertension, particularly in patients who require additional blood pressure reduction beyond monotherapy.

• Olmesartan medoxil binds to angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors, blocking the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone‑secreting effects of angiotensin II. Hydrochlorothiazide acts on the distal convoluted tubule to inhibit sodium‑chloride reabsorption, promoting diuresis and decreasing plasma volume. The combined actions result in reduced peripheral resistance and lower blood pressure.
