Olmesartán/Hidroclorotiazida Alter (Olmesartan Medoxomil, Hydrochlorothiazide)

Olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide is used for managing high blood pressure through combined angiotensin receptor blockade and diuretic action.

• Olmesartan medoxil selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor on vascular smooth muscle and adrenal cells, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium‑chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, promoting diuresis and reducing plasma volume. The combined actions lower systemic vascular resistance and cardiac output, resulting in decreased arterial pressure.
