Olmesartán/Amlodipino/Hidroclorotiazida Stada (Olmesartan Medoxomil, Hydrochlorothiazide, Amlodipine Besilate)

Olmesartan medoxil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide is used in the management of hypertension, a condition characterized by elevated arterial pressure.

• Essential hypertension: lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure to reduce cardiovascular risk.
• Hypertension with edema: provides vasodilation and diuresis to alleviate fluid retention.
• Hypertension in diabetic patients: assists  as  part  of  multifactorial risk‑reduction  strategies.
• Resistant  or  difficult  to  control  hypertension  :  adds  additional  mechanistic  coverage  when  monotherapy  insufficient  .

• The combination works by three complementary mechanisms: olmesartan blocks the angiotensin II type‑1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction; amlodipine inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth‑muscle cells, producing arterial dilation; and hydrochlorothiazide increases urinary sodium and water excretion, lowering plasma volume. Together these actions reduce peripheral resistance and cardiac workload.

Common Side Effects

• Flushing  :  warmth  and  redness  of  the  skin.

• Increased urination  :  more  frequent  urine  output.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Severe hypotension  :  dangerously low blood pressure.
• Acute kidney injury  :  rapid decline in renal function.
• Hyperkalemia  :  elevated potassium levels.
• Liver enzyme elevation  :  abnormal liver function tests.
• Allergic reactions  :  rash, itching, swelling, or anaphylaxis.
• Blood‑cell abnormalities  :  e.g., neutropenia or thrombocytopenia.

Patients  to  take  care  when  using  this  combination  product  because  of the  multiple  pharmacologic  effects  that  can  influence  cardiovascular  and  renal  function  .

• Monitor  blood  pressure  :  regular checks to ensure therapeutic targets are met.
