Olopatadin (Olopatadine)

Olopatadine is an antihistamine that acts on ocular allergic pathways to relieve eye‑related allergy symptoms.

• Allergic conjunctivitis: reduces redness, itching and tearing associated with eye allergies.
• Seasonal allergic rhinoconjunctivitis: alleviates combined nasal and eye allergy manifestations.
• Vernal keratoconjunctivitis: helps control inflammation and itching in this chronic eye condition.
• Atopic keratoconjunctivitis: provides symptom relief for chronic allergic eye inflammation.

• Olopatadine selectively blocks histamine H1 receptors on mast cells and conjunctival tissues, preventing histamine‑mediated vasodilation and vascular permeability. It also exhibits mast‑cell stabilising activity, reducing the release of inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins, thereby diminishing ocular allergic inflammation.

Olopatadine may cause a range of ocular and systemic reactions.
