Olydex (Xylometazoline Hydrochloride, Dexpanthenol)

Olydex combines the decongestant action of xylometazoline with the mucosal healing properties of dexpanthenol, acting on nasal passages to reduce swelling and improve airflow.

• Common cold: reduces nasal blockage and improves breathing.
• Acute sinusitis: eases congestion and facilitates sinus drainage.
• Allergic rhinitis: diminishes nasal swelling and discharge.
• Nasal irritation: soothes irritated nasal mucosa and supports recovery.

• Xylometazoline hydrochloride acts as an alpha‑adrenergic agonist, causing vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosal blood vessels, which reduces edema and congestion. Dexpanthenol is converted to pantothenic acid in the nasal tissues, promoting cellular repair and maintaining mucosal integrity.

Side effects are generally mild and related to local nasal irritation.

Common Side Effects

• Burning sensation in the nose.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Persistent nasal irritation or ulceration.

• Vision changes or eye pain.
• Rebound congestion with prolonged use over 5‑7 days.
