Omnic Ocas (Tamsulosin Hydrochloride)

Omnic Ocas contains tamsulosin, an alpha‑1 blocker that relaxes smooth muscle in the urinary tract. It is indicated for:

• Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): reduces urinary obstruction and improves urine flow.
• Pre‑surgical management of BPH: helps lower the risk of intra‑operative bleeding.
• Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) adjunct: may relieve lower urinary tract symptoms when used with other therapies.

• Tamsulosin selectively blocks alpha‑1A adrenergic receptors located in the prostate, bladder neck and urethra. By inhibiting these receptors, it reduces smooth‑muscle tone, leading to decreased resistance to urinary flow and relief of lower urinary tract symptoms associated with BPH.

Tamsulosin may cause a range of adverse reactions.

Common Side Effects

• Dizziness or light‑headedness, especially on standing.
• Abnormal ejaculation (retrograde or reduced volume).
• Nasal congestion or runny nose.
• Headache.
• Diarrhea.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Severe hypotension or syncope.
• Priapism (prolonged erection).
• Allergic reactions such as rash, itching or swelling.
• Angio‑edema affecting face or throat.
• Persistent urinary retention.
• Liver enzyme abnormalities.

Before using Omnic Ocas, consider the following safety measures:

• Assess renal and hepatic function: dose may need adjustment in severe impairment.
• Review cardiovascular status: monitor for hypotension, especially after the first dose.
• Evaluate for history of priapism: avoid use if prior episodes occurred.
• Caution in patients undergoing cataract surgery: inform surgeon of alpha‑blocker use.
• Avoid concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors without medical supervision.
• Store at ambient temperature: keep in original packaging, protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
