Omnicare (Tamsulosin Hydrochloride)

Tamsulosin Hydrochloride is used to treat lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It helps:

• Benign prostatic hyperplasia: Improves urinary flow and reduces urgency and frequency.
• Chronic prostatitis: Alleviates urinary discomfort associated with chronic inflammation.
• Post‑surgical urinary retention: Facilitates the return of normal bladder emptying after prostate surgery.
• Renal colic prevention: Reduces urethral spasm that can exacerbate pain during kidney stone episodes.
• Bladder outlet obstruction: Lowers resistance at the bladder neck to aid voiding.
• Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS): Improves overall urinary symptom scores in men.

• Tamsulosin selectively blocks alpha‑1A adrenergic receptors located in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra. By inhibiting these receptors, it reduces smooth‑muscle tone, leading to relaxation of the urinary outflow tract and facilitating easier urine passage without significantly affecting blood pressure.

• Dizziness: Light‑headed feeling, especially after standing quickly.
