Orizal is an antihypertensive medication that acts on the renin‑angiotensin system and vascular smooth‑muscle calcium channels to control high blood pressure.

  • Hypertension: helps achieve target blood pressure and reduces cardiovascular risk.
  • Chronic kidney disease with hypertension: assists in slowing progression by controlling systemic pressure.
  • Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: used as part of combination therapy to improve outcomes.

How It Works

  • Olmesartan medoxomil selectively blocks the AT1 receptor, preventing angiotensin II‑mediated vasoconstriction, while amlodipine inhibits L‑type calcium channels in arterial smooth muscle, producing vasodilation. The combined effect reduces peripheral resistance and lowers arterial pressure.
