Benzydamine hydrochloride is indicated for conditions affecting the oral cavity and pharynx where inflammation and pain are present.

• Sore throat (pharyngitis): provides symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation.
• Oral mucositis: reduces discomfort associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy‑induced mucosal lesions.
• Minor oral injuries (ulcers, abrasions): alleviates pain and promotes healing.

• Benzydamine hydrochloride exerts its anti‑inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the synthesis of pro‑inflammatory cytokines, stabilising cell membranes, and reducing the release of prostaglandins and leukotrienes at the site of application, leading to decreased pain perception and swelling.

Benzydamine is generally well tolerated, but adverse reactions can occur.
