Otipax (Phenazone, Lidocaine Hydrochloride)

Otipax combines phenazone and lidocaine to provide symptomatic relief in the upper respiratory tract. It is commonly used for:

• Sore throat: reduces pain and irritation in the pharyngeal mucosa.
• Minor ear pain: eases discomfort associated with otitis externa or mild ear canal irritation.
• Nasal discomfort: soothes irritation of the nasal mucosa due to colds or allergies.
• Post‑procedural throat discomfort: alleviates mild pain after throat examinations or minor procedures.

• Phenazone acts as a non‑opioid analgesic by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, which reduces prostaglandin synthesis and diminishes peripheral pain signaling. Lidocaine hydrochloride provides local anesthetic action by blocking voltage‑gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes, preventing the initiation and propagation of nerve impulses and producing rapid topical numbness.

Side effects are generally mild and localized to the area of application.
