Pacofarst (Codeine Phosphate Sesquihydrate, Paracetamol)

Pacofarst is a combination analgesic that acts on pain‑related pathways and fever mechanisms.

• Codeine phosphate sesquihydrate is a pro‑drug that is metabolised to morphine, which binds to µ‑opioid receptors in the central nervous system, producing analgesia and cough suppression. Paracetamol acts centrally to inhibit cyclooxygenase enzymes, lowering prostag‑one synthesis and providing antipyretic and additional analgesic effects. The combined action results in enhanced pain relief and fever reduction compared with either component alone.
