Indications & Clinical Uses

Paliperidon Teva is an antipsychotic that works within the schizophrenia treatment pathway.

  • Schizophrenia: helps control acute psychotic episodes and maintain symptom stability.
  • Schizoaffective disorder: reduces mood‑related psychotic symptoms when used as maintenance therapy.
  • Bipolar I disorder (maintenance): assists in preventing recurrence of manic or depressive episodes in patients already stabilized on other therapies.

How It Works

  • Paliperidone palmitate is a long‑acting pro‑drug of paliperidone that, after intramuscular administration, is slowly hydrolysed to release paliperidone. The active molecule antagonises dopamine D2 and serotonin 5‑HT2A receptors, modulating neurotransmission in brain pathways implicated in psychosis and mood regulation.
