Indications & Clinical Uses

Pantoprazol Ametas is a proton pump inhibitor that acts on conditions characterised by excessive gastric acid secretion.

  • Gastro‑oesophageal reflux disease (GERD): provides symptomatic relief and promotes healing of erosive oesophagitis.
  • Peptic ulcer disease: supports ulcer healing and reduces risk of recurrence.
  • Zollinger‑Ellison syndrome: controls hyper‑secretion of gastric acid associated with the syndrome.

How It Works

  • Pantoprazole selectively inhibits the H+/K+‑ATPase enzyme (the gastric proton pump) located on the parietal cell surface, blocking the final step of acid secretion. This results in a sustained reduction of gastric acidity, allowing mucosal healing and symptom control in acid‑related disorders.
