Pantoprazol Recordati is a proton‑pump inhibitor that acts on the gastric acid secretion pathway. It is indicated for several acid‑related conditions:

• Gastro‑oesophageal reflux disease (GERD): alleviates heartburn and promotes healing of erosive esophagitis.
• Erosive oesophageal disease: heals and prevents recurrence of erosive lesions.
• Zollinger‑Ellison syndrome: controls gastric acid hypersecretion associated with gastrin‑producing tumors.
• Peptic ulcer disease (duodenal and gastric): supports ulcer healing and reduces recurrence risk.
• NSAID‑induced ulcer prophylaxis: lowers risk of ulcer development in patients requiring long‑term NSAID therapy.

• Pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate selectively and irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+‑ATPase enzyme (the gastric proton pump) located on the secretory surface of parietal cells. By blocking this final step of acid production, it markedly reduces both basal and stimulated gastric acidity, allowing mucosal healing and symptom relief in acid‑related disorders.

Pantoprazol Recordati is generally well tolerated, but adverse reactions can occur.
