• PAXLOVID combines nirmatrelvir, which inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 main protease (Mpro), preventing viral replication, and ritonavir, which acts as a pharmacokinetic enhancer by inhibiting CYP3A-mediated metabolism of nirmatrelvir. This dual action helps to reduce the viral load and severity of COVID-19 in high-risk patients.
