Testosterone Cypionate (Testosterone Cypionate) (Injection) 200 mg/mL

Testosterone Cypionate is used in hormone replacement therapy to address conditions related to testosterone deficiency. It is indicated for the following:

• Primary hypogonadism: Treats testicular failure due to conditions such as cryptorchidism, bilateral torsion, orchitis, vanishing testis syndrome, or orchidectomy.
• Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism: Addresses gonadotropin or LHRH deficiency, or pituitary-hypothalamic injury from tumors, trauma, or radiation.
• Testosterone replacement therapy: Used in males with symptoms of testosterone deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone.

• Testosterone cypionate acts as a prodrug of testosterone, binding to androgen receptors and exerting androgenic and anabolic effects. It is the oil-soluble 17 (beta)-cyclopentylpropionate ester of the androgenic hormone testosterone, which is insoluble in water but freely soluble in alcohol, chloroform, dioxane, ether, and vegetable oils. Upon administration, it is slowly released into the bloodstream, maintaining stable testosterone levels.

Testosterone Cypionate may cause various side effects, ranging from common to serious or rare.

Common Side Effects

• Injection site pain or irritation
• Acne or oily skin
• Fluid retention
• Increased red blood cell count
• Mood changes
• Increased hair growth
• Voice deepening

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Hypercalcemia in immobilized patients
• Hepatic adenomas or hepatocellular carcinoma with prolonged use of high doses
• Peliosis hepatis
• Cardiovascular complications
• Prostate enlargement or carcinoma
• Breast enlargement or tenderness in males

Testosterone Cypionate should be used with caution and under medical supervision. Important precautions include:

• Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug
• Contraindicated in males with carcinoma of the breast or prostate gland
• Not recommended for women who are pregnant
• Use with caution in patients with serious cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease
• Monitor for signs of hypercalcemia in immobilized patients

• Insulin: Androgens may decrease blood glucose levels, requiring adjustment of insulin dosage in diabetic patients
• Corticosteroids: May enhance the edema-forming effects of androgens
