Uses / Indications

  • Vaqta Adult is used to prevent hepatitis A infection, a liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus. It is recommended for adults who are at increased risk of exposure, such as travelers to areas with high hepatitis A prevalence, individuals with chronic liver disease, or those with occupational exposure. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against the virus.

Side Effects

  • After vaccination, the body begins producing antibodies to protect against hepatitis A virus. Most individuals develop immunity within two weeks of the first dose, with full protection typically achieved after the second dose. Common effects include mild soreness at the injection site, fatigue, or low-grade fever.

Precautions & Warnings

  • Store Vaqta Adult refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C (36°F and 46°F). Do not freeze. Keep the vaccine out of reach of children. Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies, especially to neomycin or previous vaccine components. Discuss any current illnesses or medications before vaccination.

Avoid Interactions

  • Vaqta Adult may interact with immunosuppressive therapies, such as corticosteroids or chemotherapy, potentially reducing the vaccine's effectiveness. Avoid receiving other vaccines in the same arm simultaneously unless directed by a healthcare provider. Alcohol and certain medications may influence immune response, but specific interactions are not well-documented.
