  • Zovirax cream is used to treat outbreaks of cold sores (herpes labialis) and genital herpes (herpes simplex) on the skin. It works by slowing the growth of the herpes virus, helping the body fight the infection. Apply at the first sign of symptoms for best results. Not intended for use inside the mouth or on mucous membranes.

The cream is generally well-tolerated when used on intact skin. Effects vary by individual and timing of application.

Precautions & Warnings

  • Wash hands before and after applying Zovirax to avoid spreading the virus. Avoid contact with eyes, inside the mouth, or on broken skin. Do not use if you are allergic to aciclovir or valaciclovir. Keep the tube tightly closed and store at room temperature away from moisture.
