Quinine Sulphate is an antimalarial medication used to treat infections caused by Plasmodium parasites. It is effective in managing the following conditions:

• Uncomplicated malaria: Treats malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and other species, reducing symptoms such as fever, chills, and body aches.
• Babesiosis: An off-label use for managing babesiosis, a tick-borne disease caused by Babesia parasites.
• Leg cramps: An off-label use for relieving nocturnal leg cramps, though this is not its primary indication.

• Quinine Sulphate works by inhibiting heme polymerization in Plasmodium parasites. This leads to the toxic accumulation of free heme within the parasite, ultimately killing it. By disrupting the parasite's ability to detoxify heme, Quinine Sulphate effectively reduces the malaria infection.

Quinine Sulphate may cause various side effects, ranging from mild to severe. Common Side Effects:

• Nausea: A common gastrointestinal side effect that may occur during treatment.
• Dizziness: Some users may experience lightheadedness or dizziness.
• Ringing in the ears: Tinnitus is a known side effect of Quinine Sulphate.
• Headache: Mild to moderate headaches may occur.
• Vomiting: Some patients may experience nausea and vomiting.
• Diarrhoea: Gastrointestinal disturbances, including diarrhoea, can occur.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Alcohol: Consuming alcohol with Quinine Sulphate can increase the risk of side effects, including dizziness and nausea.

• Anticoagulants: Quinine Sulphate may interact with blood thinners, increasing the risk of bleeding.
